Very cool. I like the top one there as it is. Sometimes I have the urge to leave underpaintings alone and just start anew because I like them so much.

Or maybe I recall wrongly.
Acrylic on paper is much different than oils as oils will eventually eat away at the paper unless it's primed well. The flesh hue was difficult as there are tons of photos of this painting and they all look slightly different. The restoration done in the early 1900's was finished with a yellow tinted varnish which changes everything. The most recent restoration looks amazing though.

I think it's wonderful that you are painting the cracks that appear in the original. It really gives a wonderful texture and feeling of authenticity.

Thanks Harold. I'd thought I made a boo-boo when I started adding the cracks, but it turned out pretty cool.
