Re: Still life

PthaloGiblets, Snoball, Jeffro and Raffless - thank you for your kind words and comments, they are much appreciated!

Raffless, thank you for your constructive comment as well... I see it now :-) Idea was also to experiment in mixing razor sharp and muted edges but probably got carried away with doing it at the expense of losing form :-) Hopefully, next time will be better...

Thank you all once again and all the best!

Zoran

Re: Still life

Small (8"x7") and quick (before lunch ) study after more than 8 months of not touching brushes... many, many things were going wrong but it's ok... practice done! Hopefully can find more time for some painting, it is really relaxing... Oops, noticed those 2 white streaks way too late - it is a reflection of light where paint is thick, not the highlight; actually there is no open white on the pumpkin. Have a good one!

Thank you Ian for your kind comment, much appreciated! Yeah, just didn't want to go and practice with a wider palette (yet) but rather focus on value since it is done from life and still not ready for more complicated things... Thanks again and all the best!

Thank you William! You are being too kind... not even close to your work... true master.

Just got caught up with life things(?) and not being able to paint more even though I sincerely enjoy it.

Thank you once again and all the best! Talk to you soon.

Re: Still life

Nice pretty painting. But two objects in a still life is regarded as inconguous. Odd numbers work best

Thank you for your kind comment Raffless... I definitely agree with you on this one but it was more like a challenge if I can still hold a brush and mix some paint and "be in the ballpark" sort of thing . From time to time, I post on drawing forum some still life's and there is the same pumpkin in this one :

Thanks again and all the best!

Re: Still life

Nuts about nuts! Another small study and more practice done when it comes to using a brush... the whole thing was done with a single filbert no.1 that had seen better days and had to stop short of going into detail for simple reason of not having a detail brush (split hair syndrome, what can you do) - unless I was into painting some irregular parallel lines

Have a good one!

Re: Still life

Small, roughly 7"x 9", and quick study from life... definitely could go further but it is what it is

Have a good one!

Re: Still life

Fantastic nuts and fruit still lifes, your work tends to have that historic masters quality of lighting and composition. Complex and moody, yet simple and approachable, just like I like my coffee. Excellent work as always, thanks for sharing once again. Also, I love that this is all in one thread, makes it easy for me to see all your work at one time and kind of get to know your style.

Hey Delo, thanks a lot buddy... much appreciated! That's funny, parallel with coffee :-) Yeah, I like to keep it in one place to see also if any progress is being made over time since this is just a little hobby of mine and don't have any formal education in art or making art - just pure fun!

Thanks again and talk to you soon...

All the best!
