Hi Bill....you need to upload it to the project....Upload Final images....then on the drop down menu where it says project something...drop it down and scroll to this project -

Then

...I think that's right, then we can all comment on it from the the project discussion thread.

I just love this piece. It's expressive and detailed. I really like the marks made: the scratches in the topmost bit of wood, the shine in the screws, and the texture in the fabric. You've painted 'white' beautifully.

In awe of how you've painted the angles and perspective of the wood bits. Even with green and red thread spools it is harmonious and look at the teeny little bit of thread in the corner !!

Deirdre is right about the 'aged softness' of this Lynn. How did you manage it? Is it how you've applied the pastels, the paper or both? Wish I could pull off a background like that.

I had little white heads in my piece, Vivien, your little guy to the right is to die for ... he's so perfect including the reflected light on his right and the topknot on his head. Beautifully done. Enjoy your textures and the highlight/graininess in the mushroom.

Mary, I really enjoy how you've applied your pastels ... letting there be some optical mixing by the viewer. Personality plus in the little people
That old wood is beautifully done.

Re: Project Discussion: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels

Mary, it was all pencils except that little bit of Rembrandt grey above the little white head. It's on PastelMat. Have added soft stix to it to take it to a finish. I figured the pencils would be easier to use on a small bit of paper I used.

Re: Project Discussion: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels

Now is the time to ask if anyone would like to do a second piece, probably not as complicated, in order that we finish the project on time....ie by the end of April!
