Spring Irises

Here is a painting of irises from my garden. I must have started this about 18months ago and has been sitting on my wall not quite finished (like so many of my paintings LOL).
I was experimenting with the glazing technique which I never have got the hang of and much prefer scrumbling - although now and again I sometimes find myself glazing a layer or two.

Decided to finish it and, in fact, once I started I felt it didn't need too much more doing to it.
30x30cm on narrow boxed canvas.
C&Cs always welcomed.

Dynamic Marion! They're really thrusting up into the blue!

Is it acrylic?

Re: Sring Irises

Thanks Maureen and Katherine.

Yes it is acrylic. The fainter irises in the background was my start that went wrong. So I scrumbled over them and quite liked the effect it gave me of receding irises. One of thoses happy accidents.

Maureen, could you please correct the typo in the title, if you have time. Thanks

Beautiful Marion. I like the way you've painted the background, with the lighter area at the top and darker at the bottom - it really grounds the flowers and sets them off perfectly. I know what you mean about acrylic glazing - I've been trying glazing techniques out too. I looked up the information kiosk and am trying to do what it says, but it's not at all easy is it?

Re: Spring Irises

Added the 'p' Marion ..... and gave you credit for painting this (edited Viv's post above cos she wanted me to have the credit )
Mind you, I'd have been proud to have done so!
