        Pastels and pastel pencils on cream color charcoal paper – 16″ x 10″

        Based on two photos of our handiman’s In-laws as his Christmas gift this year.

            [FONT=Arial]It wasn’t until I posted this painting that I noticed that the man’s left hand appears to be in an inappropriate position. I posed them next to each other based on two individual photos so it was my mistake. In this replacement painting I removed the arm such that it can be assumed to behind the Maria’s back.[/FONT]

                Very nice portrait. I love all the details and, yeah, it was a good idea to reposition the man’s hand.:lol:

                    Great sense of realism in this drawing. I didn’t realize how much you can do with pastels. The blending looks great, goes everywhere seamlessly. The shading is just right, and the expression in the couple looks very natural. I like how there’s a lot of plant life in the picture as well, something about it is very tranquil and almost therapeutic to look at.

                        Actually, I thought he was leaning on a table behind him. Either way, it is a lovely picture. I am sure he will love it.

                            I thought Maria might be a little too large compared to March so I painted them separately. i plan to give both sets to our handiman at Christmas and let him and his family decide.

                                    Excellent portraits. The double portrait works very well. The style seems to refer to the renaissance masters, precise, poised and decorative.
