This is a copy of a photo I took at a local spot. It is A3 is size and I’ve used the pic to create the images. Plotted it carefully, so it would be a close match.
I have altered the colours in the water, they were quite dull, and adjusted some on the pelican. The top third of the image needs some major work done, but I like the area around the boy and the pelican – mostly.
The image is on paper, it has a simple acrylic base – gradient of blue and white, and oil pastels over the top.
I think it will glue it to some board if it works out well when finished.
Will post the original pic when I have reduced it in size.

@jenniferpaints http://jrcs.com.au/artistJune 20, 2018 at 10:03 am #643421I absolutely love this painting, it looks a lot like the reference picture while being at the same time completely expressive. The colours are also amazing.

I remember this one! One of my favorites of yours. So happy that it is now residing in a young boy’s room – very appropriate.

November 24, 2019 at 6:11 am #643431Jennie, this is wonderful! I love it that your painting looks warmer than the reference. You managed to combine looseness and realism which worked great because of the carefully chosed values!
It has a special feel about it and I’d definitely frame itI love oil pastels and have created a blog about this medium. While the blog posts are in Russian, still I invite you to get inspired with various artists' beautiful OP paintings in my blog's gallery: https://oilpastelist.wordpress.com/gallery
