Re: Different Strokes September 2011

Very striking Maureen and a pleasing result.

Good job with the dots Carol and a lovely composition

I went for the easy option and a conventional sort of representation 40 x 50 cms canvas board

Carol this is a wow, its beautiful including the negative space too  love it.

Trevor, this is beautiful and beautiful palette and looks like oil too, I like that fur which I couldn't achieve.

Hopefully many more people joining us in this project.

No problem Maureen, Pointillist was the extra challenge and happy to hear you've enjoying painting eyes now.

Re: Different Strokes September 2011

Hi all, here is mine! (Minus whiskers, I'm so tired I'd bodge it!) I didn't do the pointilism challenge as I don't know the style and figured being my sixth painting I should stick to something I can pick apart visually easier.

A4 size canvas sheet pad. Colours: cad red med, cad yellow med, ultramarine, carbon blk, chromium green oxide. (Yes, for anyone who caught the thread before WC had troubles, I bought the COG and went nuts using it everywhere!)

This is from yesterday - my darling 2 year old reached from her seat and swiped red everywhere! Whoops!

CharliesMum - I like your take on it, all four in one!
Sweeets that is fantastic, it looks like a mosiac that should be in a garden, all those nicely edged ittybitty dabs must take forever!
Trevors - I wish I could do loose strokes and so well! The reflection especially, I've tried it and mine looks like (pardon the term) the dogs breakfast!
Dewi - obviously you have good taste, we went for a similarish crop! I debated because I love the reflection but decided to (hopefully!) keep emphasis on her striking eyes!

Re: Different Strokes September 2011

Carol - what a super pointillist puss-cat! The only way I do that style is with a Wacom tablet and stylus - easy then1
Love this painting of yours though - cat, space, bubbles - the lot!

Trevor, really good cat and reflection - love the colours and brushwork.

Dewi - you're so good with cats! Those china-blue eyes are beauties!

WYSI - excellent fur! Good cat altogether and the expression is a peach for the later adition by your little one!

Jim - you did paint an animal after all! - and it looks like viewing through frosted glass! Nice take on the subject

Thanks for the comments on my eyes

Re: Different Strokes September 2011

Maureen. I just love your cats. The colours are gorgeous. Really imaginative composition.

Carol, wow. Looks like needle point. Must have taken you ages.

I am still busy with mine. Hope to post before the end of the month. Just taking me ages to get really going. Have scrapped one attempt already but this one seems to be going okay - thank goodness!

Have just taken a look at the next lot of kitties. They are great. Everybody has really made a fantastic effort. Love them.

Acrylic on watercolour paper approx 10" x 10"

It's been a fun challenge for a dotty person like me.

Love everyone's cats - will call back later to comment, I have to rush off to work right now.

But thanks for the challenge - I may try something else with dots!
