Re: Different Strokes - June 2011

Mine was finished a few days ago. I did it on acrylic paper, though, and I like it so much I think I am going to do another on canvas.
Just three days till the show starts!

Re: Different Strokes - June 2011

It's been a busy month, so I just started painting this today (although I had already sketched it a couple of times, and played with the colors in Paint). I'm about 80% done...and I def took advantage of my artistic license...

Can't wait to see everyone's paintings...!

Oh Deb - mine definitely shows a corruption of the artistic licence!!

Just finished #2 - hoped for 4, but time beat me I'm afraid

Re: Different Strokes - June 2011

First time I've entered and just started today! Why did I leave it so late? Hope there's something good on TV to keep me company as I burn the midnight oil!

I do hope we are allowed an...interpretation?? Getting worried now!

Don't worry Margaretta - 'different' is what it's all about in this challenge!

You also have until the end of the month to finish it - so don't stay up too late!

Re: Different Strokes - June 2011

Yes Margaretta - display date is today, 20th - but thta just means not before

Looks like I'm opening up the Gallery display!!!

I did two, both on mountboard (matboard for across the Pond ), both approx. 11" x 8" and using the full bodied paints - a mix of W&N, DR and Liquitex.
I first played around on the comp. programme with posterizing and polarizing and a few other '-izings'.

1 was the posterized version -

and 2 the 'solarized' version -

Thanks for the challenge P., and for the hosting again

Re: Different Strokes - June 2011

Maureen, I like the way both of your paintings turned out. The dark background makes them pop ... the solarized version really stands out.

I also did two paintings. I am very much a novice painter, with no particular style of my own, so I frequently "borrow" the styles of famous artists to experiment and learn. So I must confess that these two aren't entirely my creation. The first painting borrowed the style of T.C. Chiu and the second painting borrowed the style of Andy Warhol. Both are on cradled gessoboard, 24 inches wide by 24 inches high, 2 inches deep.

Re: Different Strokes - June 2011

Maureen - Outstanding! I love these. Thanks for letting me host again - you can put me on again anytime you like.

Carol - Your versions are so unique and inspiring - superb!

Well, alongside of the two already posted, mine looks very ordinary, but here it is:

9x12 Acrylic paper

I am going to try this one again on canvas and I'll post it in a few days maybe. Can't wait to see all the rest!

Re: Different Strokes - June 2011

Maureen -Beauties - both of them - love all the colours in the 2nd - looks like you had fun with it.

Carol - I love them both - the 1st looks like it's all your own -it takes a lot of thinking to put different shapes and colours together that work - and they did!

Reikiart - Not ordinary at all - It has it's own beauty. Thanks for hosting

Well I'm sure glad it's the 20th - I thought I was done last week but keep looking and tweaking (ugh) - sometimes going from bad to worse - but here it is - 11 x 14 canvas board - interactives (first time using them - I may put into storage - didn't really like them)

Happy Painting!
Betty

Wow Maureen, those are some wild colours! They both really glow on the black.

Well done Carol. Imitating other artists is a good way to learn.

Reikiart, very original with the different background. Pretty!

Betty, very nice. I like the way it comes out of the frame.
