Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

Sorry folks - my painting is A3 size (double printer sheet size)
I'll see if I can lighten the path a bit - thanks for the advice.

Bonnie - love the extra flowers. great work.
Carol - great feel. Love how it looks like its hidden in a bush setting more.
artsymum - good look. love the sweepy curves of your path
Lavender frost - love your trees at the top of the house - the path and extra flowers are great too.

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

There are some really charming paintings of the cottage here. EP - yours is certainly unique - love the colours. Wish I had been able to join in but circumstances did not allow. Just watching and enjoying.

Hi Chammi, Sorry you weren't able to participate at this time but it doesn't mean you could try this scene another day, right? Lil

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

I started a cropped version of the pic but am deeply imbedded in a monster (for me) landscape ptg and since I paint in my workshop, cannot finish it before I complete the one on the ladder (easel), maybe another dozen or so hours. Of course, I will miss the deadline, which, on my watch is less than 7 h. Is there any way to post the finished pic at a later time, say the first wk of May?

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

It's lovely to see such diffeent interpretations of this ref - each one has its own personality!
Debbie - how big is yours? It has lots of detail and nice sense of sunlight.

Bonnie - that's a small size for a lot od content in this ref! Well done too

Carol - welcome to the DS challenge - really good crop of this and very well painted. Nice work.

Lil, this is so clean and neat - no mud anywhere! Very nice painting.

Michelle - such a pretty miniature, with lots packed in ... very good work too.

Eeps - wsh I could have simplified mine like this, I'd have finished!!!
I like this work

Raymo - how did you guess eh? I nearly wore a fancy hat too!!! You're right about me being glued to the tv though!!!!

Jim - even if the thread is un-stuck, please post when finished - that'll give me scope to finish mine too - it's 3/4 done now!

Many thanks to Lil for hosting and to all of you for supporting her.

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

Aplogies to Lil and you all for being so late - but I did at least make a small painting - 5 mins here and there and finished 10 mins ago!

Thanks Lil - just for you ......

Acrylic inks on w/c paper, approx 8x5.5"

I think oldhobbyist is still finishing his, so after Jim posts, I'll unstick this thread.

Meanwhile, May's challenge is up, hosted by Kati (onewithwings) and the DS challenge is also the subjuect of the current WetCanvas Newsletter
