Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

Another last minute one.... I did the sketch yesternight. Here was the plan: Nice, loose, strokes. Quick and easy. Only, I promptly got carried away. No good at simplifying, me.
I did well until suddenly, my windows looked all different, the house had a fence and a dog appeared on my sketch. Not to speak of the hairy forest monster that suddenly stood on the gravel. Huh!?!

I just cannot stand the thought of erasing them out of existence so this will take a while. Ill try and post what I have on the 20th.

Ferlian, sounds nice, except for the monster, lol. Don't worry, you have until the end of the month to post if you want to try to finish it first.

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

My first time at Different Strokes. This was fun and I enjoy seeing everyone's work. Debbie -- your colors, especially the greens, are very realistic looking. Bonnie -- love the additional flowers, which make the painting fun! My piece is 9 X 12 on watercolor paper. For some reason the camera made the sky look turquoise, but it is actually a more subdued cobalt blue. I look forward to next month's challenge!

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

Debbie, I like your painting a lot although it looks darker on my monitor but I think you may lighten the pathway a bit and it should look more to your liking.
Bonnie, I like the canvas card stock paper and it does give texture where you want it. It's a very nice light painting.
Carol, I love the texture in your colorful painting, nicely done and love those flowers you added. Lil

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

Very nice Debbie. You could lighten the path a bit. Otherwise, it looks really good.

Very bright and cheery Bonnie.

Cameras often have that effect on blues Carol. Nice work. The crop really brings out the lushness of the plants.

Nicely done Lil!

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

2.5 x 3.5 inches on posterboard. It was fun to take out the acrylics for one day at least.

Looks a little darker on my monitor than it should be.

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

Debbie - nice job on the sun-lit spots on the cabin's siding

Bonnie - great garden

Carol - great idea to crop out the pathway and focus on the lush greenery

Oooh Lil - great job on the foliage behind the house

Lavendar - so well done and so tiny, too
