Different Strokes - April 2011

This thread is a copy - the original thread is here.

Welcome to the April, 2011 edition of Different Strokes.

If you would like to host a Different Strokes, please see the Schedule thread here - it is a sticky near the top of the main forum page.

Please read the guidelines below carefully.

GUIDELINES:On the first of each month a reference photo will be posted in a thread entitled "Different Strokes".

Each member interested in taking the challenge will create a painting using the chosen reference (whole or cropped) and on the 20th of each month participants will upload their interpretation of the reference for discussion within this thread, finished or not.

We all paint from the same reference but sometimes a host may include additional images for help, clarity or guidance.

PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD WORK TO THE THREAD BEFORE THE 20TH OF THE MONTH.**

At the end of the month the thread /discussion will be closed and a new challenge will begin.
Artwork can be any size on any surface but MUST be acrylic. Monthly references will be selected by the guides and moderators (but please note the additional comment above).

**Please note, the single 'reveal' date is chosen so that we do not influence each other with our individual interpretations ...... that's the whole point of it being called 'Different Strokes'!

THIS MONTH'S REFERENCE:

Here's a link to a slightly larger size - Maureen.

It is my sincere hope that you will participate since this is a first time for me hosting in this forum. Looking forward to seeing your paintings. Lil

What a nice picture. I don´t think I can refrain from joining the fun. Like last month, I´ll probably crop, though, if that´s ok.

gbjen - the image in the RIL is same as this - but I think Lil might be checking her files to see if she can produce a larger one
PS - can I just call you jen?

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

I've tried adjusting resolution and size of Lil's image and uploaded it to her album - added the link in the first post - but here it is also
It's at 300dpi and can be made bigger on your screen, but it tends to pixillate if enlarged too much.
However, I've printed off an A4 size (approx 8x11") and it's OK.

I'm afraid to say anything because I don't know if I will get around to it, but this picture is so tempting. Maybe, maybe.

Can you tell us more about this place Lil?

I was looking at the ref again last night and realized I didn't need to sketch out as much as I thought I did, so the original size would work.

You can definitely call me Jen

Re: Different Strokes - April 2011

Maureen was nice enough to include the link to my photo, so it should be better for most of you to paint. Happy that everyone likes the photo I took when I was up in Vermont a few years ago. We visited the Shelbourne museum and it is a lovely place which reminds me of times long past. It is like a village with houses and stables and a little lake with ducks swimming around. Lil

Love the reference photo - hope to participate this month again - might even be able to have a finished product on reveal day
