I'm in, although I haven't figured out what I am doing on it yet. Nice to have a still life for a change, thanks Maureen. - Nan

Hi Maureen,

Thanks, you might be right about that. Still I'll give it a shot, already started looking at different areas to paint etc.

A mule a day? Now that's different.

It's a very tempting photo but I still got this digital project going that I want to finish before father's day. I'll see if I can squeeze it in later.

I will not be able to participate this month since I do not have my studio set up in my new place yet. This is such a gorgeous reference photo, I can't wait to see everyone's interpretations of it!

Re: Different Strokes (a forum project): June 2010

Lolol, I was going to try to do a mule/donkey muzzle taking an apple from a person's hand, but I see there are only cherries, mango?(can't tell what that is, I've never eaten it, lolol), pomegranate, lime.....*sigh* no apples......

Re: Different Strokes (a forum project): June 2010

I want to try to participate this month! I haven't been able to for a while because I moved in March...but I'm finally able to dig out my art supplies at my new place.

This one's going to be a challenge! It'll either be really fun or completely frustrating!

Re: Different Strokes (a forum project): June 2010

This month is a bit hectic for me, so I've opted to do just a small piece of this picture (for now). This is such a great scene, I will probably go back and do the full version at another time. So I guess you can say, I am done - except for tweaking things (as I always do).

Enjoy your time away Maureen - hope its for something fun!

Sue - I'd make the apple instead of the mango (lime?). Then you could add the donkey. You could also add the donkey to a label on the bottle. Call it Mule Wine. LOL

Re: Different Strokes (a forum project): June 2010

Oof...I started mine yesterday. Let's just say it can only get better from here! I feel like I'm drowning in pattern and details. I'm still learning how to push past the ugly phase without getting discouraged. It's so hard to look at something awful knowing the chances are good it'll get better before everything is done.

Hi everyone - I'm so excited about this project - I'm going to join you. I'm kind of feeling a very Matisse like mood washing over me... Wonder what will happen next...?

Re: Different Strokes (a forum project): June 2010

Oh good - another couple of victims - sorry, participants!!!
Welcome to DS artchick and Judith

I'm well on with mine - think I'm nearly past the 'uglies' - mines pretty much following the ref this time cos I really wanted to try to get the richness of colour and pattern - but looking forward to different takes on this!

Re: Different Strokes (a forum project): June 2010

Thanks for hosting Maureen. I'm sorry I was unable to finish mine by today but I do like where it seems to be going so I will try and finish it this week. I really enjoyed playing with this one and hope I don't mess it up. It is on stretched canvas 16 inches square
