Lincoln Final 9x12- (x oils)

My recent focus is Portrait, and this is helping me get up to speed for an important commission. I did a charcoal sketch first, then blocked in color and so on- it's a bit soft, so will let it dry and sharpen/refine in a day or two, and post the final here. 9x12 on prepared panel

(Refinements and Final image posted down in the thread)

I actually like the softness of it because I've always seen paintings of him that are quite gritty.

Re: Lincoln 9x12- (x oils)

Thank you Misty! I understand what you're saying. I'm working toward a selective focus with color/value/edges, and know my abilities with Oils will continue to improve.

Thank you Wassie!

Re: Lincoln 9x12- (x oils)

A few touches for flesh tone texture, edges on some details, and a correction or two-

Re: Lincoln Final 9x12- (x oils)

Over the last few days, some small but important details have been refined- done.
