Same brushes for acrylic and oil?

Hi there,
I'm new to this forum so apologies if posting this in a wrong category. Has anyone actually experienced delamination or other issues due to using the same set of brushes for oils and acrylics? I've been using the same set, washing them between uses of course. I'm hearing this could be a problem.
Happy to keep em separated going forward but wondering how critical this really is and what to expect from paintings I already made.
Thank you!!

Re: Same brushes for acrylic and oil?

I have used both with my older bristle brushes, but cleaned them right away and really well after the oils..

Did not do it with my newer or chisel edge synthetic brushes..

I only dabbled with oils for a week or so but got headaches, so put them away..and stayed with acrylics since then..

yes I use the same brushes, synthetic nylon and bristle - it's just very important to clean them well - really well

I use a set for oils and a set for acrylics so as not to confuse myself even further.

Welcome Anna!

Thank you Joy, Vivien and Kay, for replying :-) I'll keep them separate going forward but it doesnt sound like my existing paintings will disintegrate. Very happy to be on this site!

Re: Same brushes for acrylic and oil?

I use some brushes for oils, watercolors and acrylics, but only cheap synthetics and I clean them well immediately after use. Acrylics can quickly ruin a natural hair brush no matter how soon or how well you clean it, making it unsuitable for watercolors in particular.
