Haha--it's really interesting that we have the same name, too--I'm a Cindy! though I go by Cyn mostly--it's shorter to write out!

Twobluecrows...That is the same crop I was considering. Great minds think alike, right

Re: P.A.L. (Paint-a-Long), April ..... Landscape

Michelle and Cindy, I decided on that corner from my first look at the large res version of the picture, it opened up at the top of my screen, and I went from there. I was more interested in the "wilderness" part of the image than the vineyard, though I thought of an abstract of the opposite corner, too, with the vines in it--their curves are interesting if I squint at it all together. lol

I did! So glad someone else did too.

You guys are going great guns already. Loving all the different versions already! I keep trying different sketches. Funny how what looks like a fairly simple landscape is much more complicated then it appears!

I've just finished the Galleries for the WDE - now I should have time to paint here! If you'd like to see what they've done ........

Beddy-byes now.......

Susan - in case you're too busy for the next few days, Good Luck

Cyn....It's funny we have the same name

I changed my mind with the crop a little, merely because, without thinking I started with the canvas in landscape mode. Oh well. You can clearly see I don't know what I'm doing with a knife, even though it was my suggestion to begin with But these P.A.L.'s are also about learning, right? Let's hope I do plenty of learning!!Attachment 796106 And this is where I'm at now.

Re: P.A.L. (Paint-a-Long), April ..... Landscape

Cindy - you're doing really well with that knife/those knives! How big is the canvas?
The landscape format looks good actually - so, happy accident eh?
How many knives do you have? I have only two painting knives, both of which are really too big for the size I'm working on duh! ... but I do have some paint shapers I bought ages ago, so I'm trying one of those too .... it's a silicone tip/blade and is more flexible than a credit card!

Here's where I am today - after roughly 45 mins added.

I'm intending adding some layers (before getting to the vines) - to darken mountains a little and the rocks on the right and lighten the distnat cliffs/shoreline.

Re: P.A.L. (Paint-a-Long), April ..... Landscape

So I'm a woman possessed today with this knife painting thing. I have approximately 3 hours or so in it today. It is 11x14 canvas panel. I have 6 knives (I think) but only 2 of them are metal, the rest are cheap plastic. I've been switching between 4 of them trying to make them work for me The water has given me fits. Had to scrape it down and start again and I'm still not satisfied with it. Any suggestions? Anyway here is where I am now. Attachment 796114

Re: P.A.L. (Paint-a-Long), April ..... Landscape

Not sure if this will help anyone or just cause distress:

I found a broader angle of the scene that I have posted to the RIL, and I will put that in the RIL under Landscapes with the other one. It may be too late for those of you who have clipped and cropped your way to a suitable image for your paintings, but perhaps some of the others might benefit from knowing what else is 'there' around the scene if they want to have a peek.

And it took me awhile but I did find the smiling guy in the bowler hat.

I love what people have come up with so far. Cindy you are a woman possessed with that knife! Stand back! Maureen yours is just coming together very well.

I have made a little further progress on mine. I might post progress later if I can get to it again today.

Cindy, I do really like the sunny feeling you have here - it's the blue of the water against the green that makes it I think!
All the water needs is some lightening in areas from the strong clouds you have ..... but that sunlit patch across the lake is lovely.
What are you using too make your greens?

Great goin Cindy. i love the sky and clouds. Great job with the knives. You took on the challenge and you did it!
Maureen - coming along great! look forward to see how you progress. I like how you work in layers.
Colin - Can you post a link to the other angle photo? or post the picture here? I am really confused about the composition... I feel the current picture is kind of busy but I so like the vines and don't want to exclude that....

Hi Bhavani. I uploaded the other photo to the RIL but it hasn't cleared the Moderators yet. Hazards of being at the end of the world.

I will try and send it to you in a PM when I can get on the "real " computer. But it's even more busy than the reference. You will see why I submitted the one I did.
