Scott........... Im on 56k modem........... and some times new site very fast, sometimes very slow to load...... but i have noticed that the time it takes is directly related to the activity on my 'Zone Alarm' SOmetimes Zone Alarm flashes away for 1/2 minute or more before a load happens.

Could this be relevant ?

PS when I idly clicked on the flashing banner offering me the Hourly Prize to see what it was about.......... Zone Alarm flashed for more than a minute before I shouted STOP and chose to revert to WC!

I know that firewall tools can cause more problems than they solve at times. But as far as specifics, I couldn't tell you, as I'm not familiar with Zone Alarm. Perhaps someone in the computers/tech forum here can be of more help.

hi jaytee, i really dont' know all the techy stuff either but would hazard at guess that an unhappy flashig zonealarm would be likely to slow wc or anything else loading as its my understandin taht means ur puter isgetting flooded with requests to open ports, get info from your computer etc be it advertising or hackers etc. don't take my word for it caues i'm prolly completely wrong but that could make sense?

Whereas for me, Wc is purring like a cat

Re: Update on the "speediness" of the new site

I think the Quck Reply function could be to blame. The wetcanvas headers load quickly and there is long delay (around 30 seconds) when the info at the botom says loading page then finally the thread text pops up with the pictures intact.

Seems the javascript is reloaded every time you refresh or visit another page.
