A pale morning on the beach at Sennen Cove – I love the way the colours change with the time/light/weather. This morning was all pearlescent colours but changed to vivid blues/turquoise/viridian later like the one below. in S&B book
watercolour and a little gouache and coloured pencil on watercolour paper
A short distance up the coast from the one above and on a hot bright day. One of my favourite hidden coves in Cornwall, reached by a steep single track road, where you hope you don’t meet anyone coming the other way
And yes, the colours really are that vivid – like the Caribbean the sea is somewhat colder though!

We must leave our mark on this worldJuly 21, 2019 at 5:46 am #856235thanks Yorky. It’s such a beautiful area I went with family but went off on my own sketching each day – heaven sitting on the clifftop watching the sea

July 21, 2019 at 6:02 am #856236and another in the s&b Delta book, 10×8 ins, this one in oils. The quality paper means no bleed through and I can close the book immediately with just a very slight print from the thickest paint.
a small bay near Pendeen lighthouse
Yes the sea really is that colour on a sunny day, absolutely Caribbean and vivid

September 3, 2019 at 4:20 pm #856240Lovely stuff. I always seem to find myself not quite able to stop in Cornwall, or pop across to Cornwall, or make a slight detour. So far never worked out for me, haha.

Sketch-BlogSeptember 4, 2019 at 5:38 am #856238Thanks – I love the sheer variety of scenery in a small area = my first love is the rugged north coast of Penwith (far south western tip) but closely followed by the drowned valleys and creeks of the south side and of course the moor in the middle and a little further north Bodmin moor. I prefer coves with cliffs and caves to long sweeping beaches with dunes.
