Gardens- Oil

This 6x8 is from the local botanical gardens were I went with my class yesterday- beautiful weather! Although not many flowers were still out, the landscaping afforded many nice compositions. 6x8 Oil on panel

Re: Gardens- Oil

I have trouble making vivid green like that look natural. Good work!

Re: Gardens- Oil

Thanks Joel- Greens are a challenge and we have a lot in the Midwest. I feel there is much yet to learn-

Re: Gardens- Oil

Not sure what colors you used for those luscious greens, but they’re superb. Beautiful work!

Re: Gardens- Oil

Thank you Judi! I want to learn more about the management of greens, and each painting is hopefully a step toward that goal. Here, they're made more intense by some of the more muted tones around them-

Re: Gardens- Oil

Beautiful! I love the greens, wonderful contrasts in the piece, and also the juicy brushwork, which is all the more impressive given this is a 6x8!

Re: Gardens- Oil

Thank you Annie! Working in predominantly green is a good experience (or any single color, for that matter) as one has to find and use the range of possibilities. I will get there!

Re: Gardens- Oil

Thank you Angel, Sarah, and Vivien! Mixing cleaner color with a knife has become a good method for me but forgot one this day.
