These ladies are down the road from me. Looking cozy and huddled on a blustery day.
For the larger work, I’m not sure if I’ll go tighter or more painterly. This is about 14×17 oil on hardboard. Some drybrush for texture.Website: www.artderek.com

Winston Churchill.December 7, 2019 at 1:38 pm #915947So beautiful Derek. I love how the little one is looking directly at us. The older ones have seen it all before, but for him the world is still full of mystery and interest. Very moooving. Will be great to see the bigger one too, but doubt you can improve on perfection!

December 7, 2019 at 3:02 pm #915948Your tighter is still painterly. This is very good. Great expressions on the cows, their hides look so natural in color and texture. Lovely work on the grass and landscape elements. Nicely handled overall.

December 7, 2019 at 7:13 pm #915949Derek….now that’s alot of ground beef…LOL
This has such a beautiful array of light ….I can almost feel the gentle rays as these massive cattle huddle in to bask in the warmth of the sunlight.
Great use of colour to enhance the scene and as always painted so very well.
Looking forward to the larger size.

I'M NOT AS THINK AS YOU DRUNK I AMDecember 8, 2019 at 7:49 am #915943Wow Derek!
You painted the cows beautifully but I am in awe with how real and perfectly painted the grasses in the foreground and grasses and leaves in the background are. Even the fence post is painted to support the scene but not command attention Beautiful job and this will be awesome in a larger format!

Why do you call this a study? Are you planning a larger version? It is a truly lovely painting, so expressive. They remind me of my dog when she is lying in the sun. Same contented expression. Great job! -
