Ruth, the person with whom I work, has been on holidays for a few weeks. So I’ve had a chance to play with materials and techniques. This one is Golden high flow acrylic, a bit of heavy body paint, pastel, and Conté on 18″x24″ Apollon cradled birch panel primed with gesso and Golden absorbent grounds.

I suppose I have to do this too (my blog, & current work). My Visual Arts Nova Scotia page.

January 11, 2018 at 12:05 pm #542746Thanks gaykir and fedetony. Gaykir – I quite agree about natural figures vs. more posed ones, there’s something really wonderful (at least to me) about drawing people just going about their business, rather than performing. This one actually started life with a drawing of Ruth on her cell phone, taking a break from more rigorous work….

Agree with Gayle – the casual pose adds to the charm of the painting.[FONT="Verdana"]Nancy

Your style with the figure reminds me somewhat of some Victorian art ,,,, will need to think a bit more for the sources though!!Cheers, Maureen

My DeviantArt GalleryJanuary 12, 2018 at 12:38 am #542749Great pose. The sharp angles of the knees and elbows give the figure its own energy. I really like the expression you captured on the face as well.
