Autumn Gold

I thought that it was time to paint a landscape featuring the Cottonwoods or the like as seen in works by masers such as Clyde Aspevig and Scott Christensen. Not that I can come anywhere close to their talent but Im pleased enough with this one too call it my favourite of the year so far. Funny how I end up painting an autumn scene in the spring, but go figure, I never did make sense. Ill get back to spring/summer theme when the mood strikes me, which will probably happen soon considering all the cool, overcast spring weather weve been getting in this part of the world.

Re: Autumn Gold

Thanks for the kind comments.

Yes I photograph all my artwork indoors, can't deal with the changing light outdoors with all the huge trees around my house.

Good to know that you got my back in case the seasonal art police show up. Maybe I should wait to blog this one until the fall. "I just finished it...yah that's it." lol

Beautiful painting, Barbara. I like how you continued the yellow ochre into the sky. I knew you were a Aspevig fan as soon as I looked at your painting.

Barbara: I love the Golden "Tonalist" style of this. So unified in color.
Enjoyed very much. Derek

Beautiful work here, Barbara! When I squint, it looks like your values are spot on. And most of painting is in mid value, which adds to the feeling of light. Nice composition and color harmony too. Overall just a wonderful piece.

Re: Autumn Gold

Yes I was going for a mid day, mid value and harmonious painting. It's good to know that I hit the mark on this one, now if only I could do about another 20 of these.

Thank for the great observations guys, it helps me for the next painting.
