“Dark Sun” 17”x23” pencil & graphite WIP.
I’ve had this drawing chugging along for a while and thought I’d show where it stands today. The next while will be spent getting it into focus.
I have posted one of the early pics, a photo of the paper with most of the background in, and 3 closeups of where. it sits this morning.

Bill was a long time valued member of our community who passed away after a lengthy illness. We will miss him. Rest in peace.

June 6, 2018 at 7:21 pm #635966There’s a real sense of shape here, and your work on the fur is incredible. Must have taken you bloody ages to manage all those lines.

The Weaver’s face, well, it is what it is. I’m hoping for a calm, mature strength.Hi L Skylar Brown. I draw apace. Thanks for the compliment
Thanks for the comments Crabbit-Minger. It’s a process I wind up in the middle of, so drawing line over line or scumbling away is merely a moment for me. Some moments last longer than others, though
Thanks Virginia. I still don’t see how I’ll end up completing the hair. All in good tiime, I guess.
Thanks Dianna. There is a photo somewhere out there on te webz that I’ve modified in my drawing of the mother/cub pair. They are very beautiful and very sweet. I am trying for a warm, strong, maternal bear.
I took a pic of a corner that’s seen some drawing.

I’ve avoided the braids, which has been holding me back. Fear of the unknown, I guess. Because just how I’ll do them will unfold in the process. Scarey. Wish me luck.

July 11, 2018 at 8:59 am #635946A happy time I’ve finished the move back into the studio. The black mold problem I discovered is repaired, the storage areas, shed, workshop and studio space all reassembled, and I’m working there again. That mold is probably why I was sick for years. Nasty stuff.
A happy-snap as it sits on the easel. The drawing is at the end-game stage now. I’m bringing it into focus, sharpening it up, adding depth, and generally trying to get the drawing to flow more smoothly. Always a challenging time when doing an extended drawing.

My DeviantArt GalleryJuly 27, 2018 at 9:11 pm #635948Thanks Dianna I feel like the drawing begins to get an ebb and flow after a critical mass of time is put into it. It’s an intangible, but there is a critical point before the piece becomes too overworked that it seems really responsive to subtle adjustments.
“Dark Sun” is complete. I included a couple of close-ups because that is sometimes fun to see. I hope you enjoy the end result
