Dragonfly abstract

I did this dragonfly the other day just for fun. After a while, I couldn't resist placing some watercolors on it. Not sure which one I like better. I used Pitt pens for the linework and some Daniel Smith watercolors for the dragonfly. This picture is 8"x10".

Re: Dragonfly abstract

Definitely the second one works for me best, I like it a whole lot.
I can't put into word why -somehow the background is a faithful extension of the spirit of dragonflies !
Sounds crazy but true art communicates on levels way above mere logic .
Excellent art ,
Mike

Thank you Mike! I decided I like the second one better as well.

Re: Dragonfly abstract

I like both very much but the way you've used the w/c in th second emphasises the delicacy of the insect against the harder tile-like background. Lovely!

Lovely!! The contrast of the abstract geometrics with the organic and colored shapes of the insect is sensual.

Re: Dragonfly abstract

Very nice work. I prefer the colour although the other version is appealing too. With colour the insect becomes the focal point. Otherwise the insect blends in like camouflage to the background. Which is cool. Depends which effect you want.🙂🙂

Re: Dragonfly abstract

I like them both. I think the color draws out the dragon fly more.

Re: Dragonfly abstract

Oh lovely, I like both versions too, but since I love colour I will have to choose the second. The colour just accentuates the fragility of those wings so well. And the background just give it that something extra.
