Premixed Acrylic Taupe

Anyone know of an acrylic paint manufacturer that makes a shade of Taupe? or something like it!

Re: Premixed Acrylic Taupe

Look up the colour charts on manufacturers web sites and choose the nearest to what you want.
Golden, Liquitex, Windsor &Newton, DickBlick etc.

The warm grey in this set is pretty close:

This is a rather mesmerizing clip on how to mix your own:

Re: Premixed Acrylic Taupe

That must be ASMR style paint mixing..or they slow mo'd it a bit...LOL

I always scoop under the pile and turn it over and mix faster..more like mixing things for cooking, just smaller scale....

There many ways to arrive at that color..

Re: Premixed Acrylic Taupe

Thanks I use a great deal of Taupe and a few other colors in my backgrounds, I certainly know I can mix it, as I do now, but it's always inconsistent from batch to batch, so I'm looking for a premixed product in larger sizes maybe 16oz minimum.

Ah, for a large jar I think Golden would be the best. They have a few different greys...this is the neutral N5. You can also get it in 32 oz for $49.

Re: Premixed Acrylic Taupe

Thanks, but I was hoping maybe some Indie paint company out there, might make a Taupe shade all ready to go! I already checked with all the major manufacturers color charts and couldn't find anything I wouldn't have to variate. Same thing with N5 Neutral Grey, ..I would still have to tint it! What really aggravates me, is how House Paint comes in every shade imaginable! I think Jackson Pollack knew what he was doing! LOL Thanks again I appreciate your Help!

Re: Premixed Acrylic Taupe

It's too bad there's no custom mix paint company for acrylic artist paint. The two independent companies I know of that have larger volume options are Nova in California and Kroma in Vancouver, BC. Nova caters to the mural community but they are good quality. The only thing I see close, though, is another neutral grey.

However depending on how much you want to lean toward brown, Kroma has one called Vancouver Grey that's a bit warmer. Taupe covers a very broad range so I wasn't sure how light/dark/warm/cool you wanted.

Re: Premixed Acrylic Taupe

If you mix being consistent with the mixing volumes of each part you'll always be able to reproduce a colour exactly. Just need to measure correctly and mix correctly.... I do it all the time , write down the mixing volumes and I can reproduce the colour anytime and in the desired quality...
