January 8, 2020 at 4:39 pm #930417Hi and welcome to the forum, your sky is nice and the distant trees are properly faded , but the near tree could probably be a little taller and darker and less uniform,,, I like to share what seems right to me , to those with C&C welcome , but we all have different opinions ,,,I think if you mixed up a dark dark and went over the tree including the trunk and made it more of a silhouette and used a bit of that dark across the foreground you would rename it to ,,, unique badass landscape

At least twice a year, paint something better than you ever painted before.January 8, 2020 at 4:50 pm #930415Nice! An uncomplicated scene where you have resisted ‘fiddling’. Well done.
My only criticism for what it is worth is that I think your foreground tree needs to be a little more ‘grounded’. It reminds me of a hot air balloon with basket beneath drifting in to land but hasn’t quite made touchdown yet.
Hope you will continue to post often.

I’m not sure that I currently possess the sass to pull that off, but I may yet give it a try. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks. I don’t disagree. The grasses near the tree trunk were meant to add to the sense of grounding, but clearly something more needed to be done. What might you suggest to ground that balloon?

Possibly some darker stronger shadow from the tree trunk?
