Hi. I had a friend take me out to a spot on Burlington Bay where there were lots of winter birds hanging out on the frozen ice at the lake edge. I snapped some great reference pics for my next painting. Here is a graphite underdrawing on gesso for Trumpeter Swan 24×12. Gonna be a symphony in blue and white with some golden yellowish hits.

February 3, 2019 at 7:19 pm #772483Here’s a bit of an update. Started blocking in some basic colours and values… trying hard to keep the paint thin and keep the edges mostly soft. Having some sunken dark issues with the water parts at the top of the painting, so I will have to wait for a few days to let all dry.. then oil it out with a bit of galkyd.
Thanks for all the positive words everyone! Looking forward to finishing this one.. still feeling hopeful about it! lol
