Grey Boat, Morning Light

This is a 12x16" I painted recently at a paint out down in the Florida Keys. This boat was tied up across from me and the way the light was hitting the side of the boat really grabbed my attention, so I went for it.

12x16" Oil on linen panel.

Thanks for looking. C&C welcomed!

Randy

Great peaceful marine scene Randy! Reflections are oh sooo good! You even put those sunlights on the boat... cool!

Beautifully quiet and serene. Love the secondary reflections on the underside of the boat. Gary

I love the brush strokes. This painting is relaxing to me. The greys in the water. Noting looks overdone.

Hey another beauty, Randy, but not so weathered! You must love painting boats. Much looser, but still wonderful. It is the boat's turn to be grey this time. You have captured a real shimmer on the water, too.Excellent!

Re: Grey Boat, Morning Light

Thanks, Trudi! This painting is looser than the weathered boat painting because it was done during a Plein Air event, so it's about 3 hours tops. I do like painting boats, probably because I live near the water and they are a big part of living in Florida for better or worse. Funny thing is I don't own one nor do I have the desire to own one. I've heard the best way to own a boat, is to have friends that have them.

Love the loose greens that make the viewer focus on that wonderful boat. The colors are mesmerizing and I especially like the reflected light from the waves glistening underneath the bow.
