USS Constitution signals victory (x-post from Acrylic)

Here the USS Constitution flies HMS Guerriere’s ensign beneath her own. Constitution defeated her in August 1812 (shortly after the war started) stunning the Royal Navy.

Parts of this work exceeded my skill. In other areas I will admit I simply got bored with it and wanted it done. (I redid the sails and sky four times.)

Overall, a credible result. Not the work I saw in my mind’s eye, though.

C&C welcome.

Thomas

Once you have admitted to the Flat Earth theory this will be an excellent painting

Okay - I know you’re trying to tell me something, but I’m not getting the hint.

Your horizon slopes down to the right. Get a ruler and draw a light pencil line along the horizon and fill in the difference.

That’s just a bad photo...the way I held my phone, I suppose. Painting’s okay.

Your handling of the ship and the sails are well done!

I decided to give the water a livelier feel...added more color and movement.

This also sets off the distant island a bit better, I think. I also softened the dark blue on a few of the sails.
