Re: Ruth's Creations

A couple of years ago Ruth crocheted octopus toys with eight long legs and they were popular with children. Her friend at the church knitting group bought one for her husband who was suffering with dementure. He loved it and would play all day long tying the legs together then untying them. It kept him calm and happy. After a while his wife asked Ruth to make another one as the old one had gone walkabout. He played with it continuously until he died recently. We met her friend in the restaurant and she told Ruth he had passed away and she was going to bury the octopus with him.

How little things have a big impact on people's lives.

Doug

Re: Ruth's Creations

What a lovely story.
When mom had dementia I made her a kangaroo with a Joey. She spent hours putting it in the pocket and taking it out.

Dementia is so difficult to deal with. It is so hard to help. It is so hard to watch the slow loss of so much.

Nice set of complex cables! Impressive work. I have made a few Arrans but never that quickly.
