Gorgeous. Would love to know how you created the foreground and background, i.e. colors and technique. I think it's great when people post their work but most make a serious mistake in not saying anything about their technique and how the painting was produced. I think WC is a great format for learning and teaching and should not just be used by artists to soothe and build the ego (no personal animus intended here--just speaking about a pet peeve)

Hey, I never really talk about my technique, because I never took lessons or anything. So I don't know if what I am doing is even correct. I basically work in passes. Fat over lean... the first pass I try and get the shapes zeroed in I use straight paint with turps. second pass I try and get the mid tones highlights and shadows planed and make sure the proportions are perfect again straight turps. then i just build it up from there really using medium. the colors are for the background I used mars black let it dry, then i go over it again with ivory black or a mixture to make black. the colors i am using for this are burnt umber, oxide green, cadium red, orange and yellow, naples yellow, lemon yellow, raw umber there are more that I will list not happy with this last session really...

Re: fruits

Looking great Dan, the background curtain is a definite improvement over the pure black. I love the fruits, looks like you just need a little refinement on a few then it's all done.

Thanks Alan, I still have lots to do on the fruits. glad you like the background. I figured I would try something different...never knew how much fun it is to paint drapery!
