Critique My Painting: Magic the Gathering Replica

Hi, all! The folks over on the acrylic board told me I might benefit from posting this here! This is only my third painting ever (I guess technically fourth because I tried watercolor once), so I'm looking for any critiques so that I can improve! This is meant to be a gift for a big Magic: The Gathering fan, so it's my attempt at recreating the art from this card.

Like I said, I'm new to painting, so any advice is appreciated! The lack of detail is intentional; I wanted it to be more backlit and not have as much detail as the original card. I might try to do another version later where I attempt that detail. It's on a 10" x 10" canvas box.

Re: Critique My Painting: Magic the Gathering Replica

It looks good from what I can see. Nice blending in the sky colors.

I would though and with no offense to you meant, try and take the best photo you can. Take the photo straight on in good light and crop out anything that's not part of the art because things like the green blanket can take away or even change the tones in the painting. It makes it difficult to give a decent critique.

Your link isn't working. Let me know if you need that edited.

Looks good. I think you have put in just enough detail to make an effective silhouette.

Welcome to Wet Canvas and also to our weird little part of it!
I like it, nice and mysterious.
I think the purple and green work well together and give it a different look from the warm yellows of the original.
I took a look at your dragon in the clay forum, very cool.
