Re: Classical Art 1st "Junk Journal" Project

Robin, you can get artist gelatos from Faber I think. Very rich and creamy and you can blend them with your finger or use a wet brush. You can also get children's gelatos, such as by Maped. Perhaps crayola does blendable crayons too. Gelatos have the texture of lipstick!!

Re: Classical Art 1st "Junk Journal" Project

Just finished coptic binding another junk journal. In this one I used old book pages from books I scavenged at the Good will. I especially like the children's dictionary with the big words and fun drawings. also dug up some paper I'd glued tissue to a couple years back and just hadn't used.

the binding process was very enjoyable. This is definitely a permant part of my life now. I'm impressed with how flat the book lays and all the fun pages just makes me wanna doodle.
and write just any ole thang........

And here is a page I did in the smaller journal. I was just wanting to cut out circles from the seed catalogue pictures......no real reason.....it was fun though.

Re: Classical Art 1st "Junk Journal" Project

fell in love with a brown paper bag....so I made this little pocket with it and then a couple of days later I picked up a business card and later I made this my first ever little note to myself......and tucked in the pocket.......this was such a good experience...........I like pockets and openings on pages.....going to do more of that

this little note to self says Time is a sail ...you set the course....just came up as I colored the shapes....(the images is reversed cause I'm using photo booth)

Re: Classical Art 1st "Junk Journal" Project

Here's a junk journal I am making out of cup-a-soup cartons.

Stage 1. Some colour

Stage 2. Some more added...stamps, stencils etc.

I have around 20 pages in all. I'm thinking of binding it into the covers of an old diary...the diary was ring type binding and easy to take apart.

I do bits and pieces on this play junk journal when I cant think of what to do for the day. It tends to get me in a paint mood and then I can go on and start something else. Its a warm-up, I guess.

Re: Classical Art 1st "Junk Journal" Project

Thanks for the blog link June. It's great.

oh, I really like the way you kept the whole box shape in tact.....these are fun!! lots of energy and freedom.......

I've been using my junk journal more lately. It's like I don't feel forced to make anything that amounts ....I just feel like diddling and the junk journal lends itself to that and sometimes great stuff shows up and sometimes not.....but that is the freedome in it.
