A quiet piece mostly about the blues, got to a point with it where I thought it was finished, though still feel it could do with some more work. It is 20 x 20 cm oil on canvas. Many thanks for your comments, Caroline

I love the combination of smooth & textured areas which greatly enhances aerial perspective as that distant ocean looks sooo far away – Nicely Painted Caroline !

This has such a beautiful, quiet elegance to it – the rugged foreground is superb – an exceptional painting Caroline

To my taste this is that magical zone between objective and abstract art: enough information to read the story but details left to viewer’s imagination. I am also glad you have some blue skies and sunny weather to paint. This is favorite of mine. Gary

You are on a roll, Caroline! This one has beautiful colors and texture and movement. It will be interesting to learn, as you keep this process going, how you determine when each piece is finished.

The colors in this are rich and lovely. I particularly like the foreground rocks and standing water areas. Very nice.

I don’t often like ‘abstract art’ – unless it actually creates a scene or memory clearly in my mind. Your paintings do capture very real images, and i am from NW Ireland where this scenery is so familiar. The rocks and seaweed and sparkling light at the bottom paint a sharp, even accurate image in my mind – the sky is dark and threatening and they are separated by a calm distant peaceful sky. Very nice and inspiring work:thumbsup:

Caroline, this is not just “another seascape.” It is stunning. I love those colours in the sky and there is a real sense of those unforgiving rocks. The little flecks of sparkling blue set it off perfectly. More please..

BTW, I have tried an abstract landscape, spurred on by your generous advice. Really enjoying it but good abstract requires confidence I think.

Thank you Michael for your lovely comment, I did enjoy painting this small painting! I think the smooth and textured combination did work this time! though am struggling big time with my latest painting on the easel!

                                                Many thanks Ginny!

Hi Ann to be honest I have not been very sure about this wee painting, it keeps getting put aside, lost in the studio, then found again. Your nice words make me realise I should be looking after it better! maybe find it a frame.

Hi Gary I thought you would like this one, it reads more like a seascape than an abstract landscape. I feel I need to make sense out of all of my paintings this week so decided to let this one sit on the easel so I could see what could be done with it. Many thanks for your valued comment much appreciated.

Hi Donna, I didn’t think this painting was finished but once I can see it on the computer screen it does look completed. I am once again moving away from the abstracts to more palette knife seascapes ….. just can’t seem to plan anything these days! Thank you so much for your lovely comment.

Thank you very much dorrart for your very nice comment, much appreciated.

Hi Richard thank you! I must nip over and visit your beautiful expressive oil paintings after writing this post.

                                                Many thanks Joachim!

Hi eoghan,I have visited Sligo and Donegal many years ago. I remember it so well and how beautiful and green the pastures were and how stunning the beaches were too. I too am not sure about abstract art but some really is very good. Thank you for your lovely comment, I actually google mapped the areas I mentioned so special to be able to see the countryside again.

Hi Bizzi so now I am wondering about your abstract painting! you are certainly very skilled with the palette knife. Hope to see the painting here soon on WetCanvas. Thank you so much for your encouraging words about my painting, much appreciated.

Wonderful Caroline, I love this foreground, it takes us way back into the distance.
