Re: Scratchboard Hall of Fame 2012

"NIGHTWATCH" started out as an experiment in creating depth. It is a 16x12 Claybord and I used a variety of tools on it including my airbrush. It is one of those pieces that was far more successful than I would ever have imagined when I decided to do a night scene on whiteboard. I tried to keep it as simple as I could and still create a feeling of depth. I feel very blessed that it worked.

It won the Silver Award at the inaugural ISSA Exhibition in Glen Ellen, Ca. It received the Blue Ribbon for 1st place in the Drawing division and the People's Choice Award out of 180 entries in my local Art League's annual show. It is by far my best work of 2012.

This is my favorite for 2012. Best of all, someone else thought so too and bought it!

I chose this image of Malai Tong, an Asian elephant I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing several years ago. This piece is a special one for me as it made the Waterhouse Art finals here in Australia and was my first piece to sell

My portrait of artist Dr. Tony Hanning
This is my favourite because I managed to get into the short list for the Doug Moran Portrait Prize which is highly regarded in Australia.

I think Monty was my favorite. It was the 2nd whiteboard I ever did and the recipient was happy and I was happy!

This one was probably one of my favorites because of it being a simply design that that drew people in when they seen it at art shows.

I only completed one in 2012, so it gets picked by default!

Didn't get a whole heap done in 2012 but I think this might be my favourite. It's my niece and even my tough brother cried when he got it. It's mostly the ten-flat tattoo needle with fibre-glass brush for the hair

Re: Scratchboard Hall of Fame 2012

My favorite for the year was my tiger. After all these years doing scratchboards it was one of the first that I added color to, and the wonderful ref photo was taken by my son-in-law.
