Re: Underwater Photography

These photos are fantastic and the category is needed. Do you guys have pictures underwater of other people swimming, and/or dogs? (I know that's a bit different than what you had in mind but it's still underwater!) I wouldn't have the nerve to go diving because of my ridiculous fear of sharks.

Joe, is there anything you haven't done?
Li, sky diving, too? (Oh, I live in a bubble.)

Re: Underwater Photography

Li and Joe,

Your photos are absolutely wonderful, makes me wish I had fins and a snorkle to wear while viewing them, they are so inviting.

Can we snag them for references from here while waiting for a new Underwater category to open up in the Image Library?

Re: Underwater Photography

Thanks everyone. Sylvia, absolutely. These are bound for the library anyway, have at them. I'd love to see what you do with them.

I had this one in the library already but here's a swimmer for Grasshopper.

I have some dog swimming shots somewhere. I'll try to find the disc. I'll try to get more swimmer shots today when we go out.

Joe, good idea putting a link to the thread!

Li

Sylvia.
Of course, help yourself.
The only thing I would say, is that the images we post into the RIL will be larger.
I have had to resize all of mine to post them here, in the RIL we don't have that problem.
Glad you like them.

Re: Underwater Photography

Just got back from a short vacation trip to the Dominican Republic and got DanaT's message. The new category is up: http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/show...y.php?cat=3284

Let me know if there are any other subcategories to add.

Thanks,
Kerri

Re: Underwater Photography

THANK YOU DANA AND KERRI ! Also thanks for splitting the category into wild and not.

We are having trouble getting online all week anyway because of hurricanes and tropical storms. I will start uploading as soon as the computer stabalizes, probably a couple more days when we see sun again. Right now we are only connected for a few minutes at best.

Joe, have at it ! Going to try to answer your email before I get cut off again.

Li

Re: Underwater Photography

Lost beginning of this thread-again-drat. Think underwater photography forum excellent idea. Is it possible to name the sea fauna and flora. I'd love to try and paint an underwater sea scape. Challenge with unexplored possibilities. Yes? I'm not a water person, but I woulld still attempt an underwater sea scape.
Regards
Another newbie.

Keep on focusing.

Welcome to Wetcanvas Bushma'am!

Here is the link to the new category.

http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/show...y.php?cat=3284

So far just Joe's fabulous work ( and a few of mine.) It's open to everyone so have at it! As for your question: I will name what I can identify in my comments with each photo. That's up to the individual. Hope they inspire you to paint your first underwater sea scape!

Cheers

Li

Bushma'am.
I personally don't know VERY much in relation to the names of Underwater Flora/Fauna.
I was an underwater guide for a few years so I had to learn the names of the local fish, besides that, I just point and shoot.
I have added any details that I have to my Photos.

I'm glad you like the catagory, I think a lot of people are going to enjoy it.

Joe

Re: Underwater Photography

I just wanted to thank Joe and Li for these wonderful photos!

Although I dive, I don't have an underwater camera, and I recall trying to photograph the beautiful sea life and coral at the city aquarium. My camera was a shoddy little thing and because fish move - and the camera was too slow to take the shot, each photo was blurred..I was quite disappointed. But now there is this wonderful new category, thanks to you!. :-)

Re: Underwater Photography

I am so pleased you have got your wish Li and Joe. Your photos are superb. I went looking for just these type of images in the ref library a few weeks ago and it was soooo frustrating. There is a whole world down there that most of us will never see so thank you for taking time out and sharing with us your wonderful images. I'm off to have a look now.
