So, I decided to try some basic marbling. I just used the oil paints on water method, really just to have a lay about. Now I want to do it properly, so I’ve bought a book and will be looking to get started with the proper equipment and techniques soon.
So, these aren’t all that great, but I liked the effects;My paper was just cheap “parchment” effect printer paper, it’s what I had lying around at the time. I might see if I can get the two red and green ones printed onto something I can then paint over, as I like the effect and can see a landscape in there. That one had too much paint on it, so I blotted it with the other sheet of paper and it made a fantastic effect!

Instagram laf.abstractsJanuary 10, 2018 at 12:52 am #541981Good start – I’ve always wanted to do some marbling, and have only done the shaving cream version with my kids, so I’ll be following your progress!

I’ve found the book, “Marbling Paper and Fabric”, by Carol Taylor, to be very informative and easy to follow.

January 12, 2018 at 7:49 am #541984The first few from the kit are hanging on the line to dry. I had a range of papers, and only two showed reasonable results. Of those, one was definitely better quality, so that’s something that needs more testing, I think. But it was definitely fun and worth pursuing further, I think. I’ll scan them when they’re nice and dry.

I think the fourth and sixth ones are the best, still a lot to learn, though.

January 15, 2018 at 8:58 am #541986Some more pieces; only a couple came out without air bubbles or hesitation marks, but I think that I can still utilise them as bookmarks, by cutting out the good bits and laminating them.

January 15, 2018 at 3:20 pm #541980Wow these are wonderful!!!! Love the colors and designs. They look so amazing hanging on the line too. Your neighbours must have enjoyed an incredible show.:)

"keep your own time tickin"January 17, 2018 at 8:42 am #541987I made bookmarks out of some of the ones that had smudges and other damage (still waiting for some bits to arrive to finish them off);

He does a lot of experimental work and acrylic pours, and he has combined smaller sections into fantastic larger compositions. Here’s a sample thread:
https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1439012You probably already know this, but for those who don’t, if you click on his name (or anyone else’s), it will take you to a profile where you can quickly find his other work.
