I’m trying to teach myself how to use oils. I must admit, there is something luscious about them. I thought I would try a fairly monochromatic palate to try to keep myself out of trouble. I’m thinking about adding full color, but before I try that, I wanted opinions about whether the portrait needs any changes. Also, if anyone has a good resource that would help me move from this monochrome to color, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Thanks, Carol. That is what I would like to try.

Good job. Before you paint your portrait check on the proportions and angles as well as the values. Avoid lines.
