I very much like hard materials. That is why I love to paint rocks and metals. Here is the movement of an antique watch with loads of technical detais and different metals. Drawing done and some first washes.
Smile and make everyone wonder what you have been up to.

August 20, 2019 at 5:17 am #869228Blocking in some of the large areas. Trying to define difference between different metals. The size is 30 x 30 cm (12″ x 12″)

August 21, 2019 at 3:43 am #869229I doubt myself all the time and I am far from patient. As I have not a real possibility to do “real” work, painting is better than housework.
Trying to find the balance between the darks and lights, Fiddling with the details. I hate small brushes. The thin circles are a nightmare.Smile and make everyone wonder what you have been up to.

C&C allways wellcome!August 22, 2019 at 2:47 am #869231Most of the area is covered at least with the initial washes. It will need a lot of tweaking all over. I had to remove a part of a cog in the bottom as it was actually a wrong shape. I got most of the color off. I hope the future layers will cover the mistake. I am maybe a bit too impatient to make this kind of precise style. I am not always happy with the degree of details. But then again I am a bit cowardly to go wild with a lot of color and water. I still have the voice of my mom in the back of my head saying that paper is expensive! I know that if I don´t paint it will cost me more!!

C&C allways wellcome!August 23, 2019 at 4:41 am #869232Here is the final piece. It could be more accurate, but at the same time… what would be the point. I do enjoy the 3-d effect the dark shadows make. I love it when a painting looks very accurate from afar, but as you get closer you can see the work that went to making it.
