Rod Serling

My son just moved into a new apartment, and asked me to paint something using Twilight Zone imagery. This is 16x20 on canvas. All comments welcome.
Thanks
-David

Re: Rod Serling

This is interesting! Is Twilight Zone a film?
I like the phone masts, they add a lot of depth to this painting.

An American TV series from the late 1950's and early 1960's. Rod Serling did the introduction and some narration.

I think this painting captures some of the feel of that show.

Re: Rod Serling

ah.. love the ciggy! It's so typical and iconic. I wonder if he really did smoke.
You've captured the essence but, being such a huge fan of the show. (As a kid I use to rush to get to it on time.) I have a very difficult time thinking of the intro in anything but black and white. In my mind is that black and white screen with Rod walking out slowly, gray smoke twirling up from his hand, and speaking so prophetically. I loved it.

And I love your painting. I don't know if you're going to add shadows but I would suggest doing so. It would give everything a more 3D effect and darken it a bit. Making it a bit more eerie like. The fade from the horizon to the star filled sky is so like the show. I like that. And the floating door and eye.. yup.. that's what it was about.
