I went, with a couple of friends. to a portrait workshop with South African portrait painter Rob Wareing today.
This is outside my comfort zone! My first love is landscape and figures I do are generally monochrome or limited palette. Great workshop though and i learned a lot.
It went through some awful ugly stages on the way and I need practice to improve but it turned out better than I expected
It was a lot longer pose than I’m used to as well. Hours rather than minutesm meaning time to refine.

October 12, 2018 at 4:23 am #710058This is a pleasing result Vivien… pastel has a lively fresh look… which you have achieved here!
Was there anything you picked up from the workshop that you thought was significant?

C&C always appreciated.
My art on InstagramOctober 15, 2018 at 7:14 am #710061He worked in a fairly conventional way Mac with ‘natural’ colours – no blue or green tones etc I worked that way as it was a learning exercise. My natural way would have been to incorporate a little more of those colours. But as I said, a new topic for me and out of my comfort zone.
It was fascinating to watch how he achieved a finished piece in one hour!
