WDEs May 4 ad April 27

I'm still behind and these are nothing special but at least I found time to participate this weekend. I thought retirement meant I was supposed to have more time, but....
This week's is acrylics on a piece of 6x8 matboard painted red first, about 1 1/2 hours.

(oops, I see I forgot to finish that little tree bottom left)
Last week's is o.p.s on some watercolor paper coated with a mixture of black gesso and clear gesso, around 6x6. It's obvious I rushed through it .

Annie and Lin, thanks for hosting!
I haven't even looked at one of yours yet; will get to it after I go put lime pellets on the front lawn.

They are both lovely. I can't see where the tree is unfinished??? I know what you mean about retirement - I've been retired for 6 years now and have no idea where the days go! On the plus side, they say it's good mentally and physically to be busy!

Both are good. Time expands to fill a void they say. I think you do more of what you like to do when retired, and then feel guilty for neglecting things you used to do. I didn't paint when working full time, but still managed to get a lot of other things done which I put aside now. PC's take a lot of time and so does painting.

REALLY love the landscape, and the use of black gesso underpainting on the poppy

I hear from one woman, retired one year ago, that she has no idea how she had time to work! How fun to have so much going on that's interesting

There is a lovely glow to the first, the colours are beautiful. I think it is special and you should take another look at it.

Like them both especially the effects of the red under painting in the landscape!
