Getting inspired by some fine still lifes posted here. Here’s a couple of paintings on panel. Both 16 x 20

Let’s see some more still lifes.I only regret not drinking more champagne -

After many years layoff, I remain in the representational / figurative realm. Not trying for detailed rendering or realism, but making a conscious effort to manipulate color and form for a convincing illusion of space and atmosphere. Sometimes I come close, sometimes I get it.June 10, 2018 at 3:44 pm #637023I really like the first one, nice massing in of shapes, cheerful high key image with lovely colors.
Being born places you at a greater risk of dying later in life.

I loved the second picture. Especially the tone of the pears!
Congratulations!Alexandre George
Just an amateur artist trying to learn the noble art!June 12, 2018 at 12:08 am #637021These are both very nice. I especially like the first, as the sense of light is so strong and beautiful. It kinda reminds me of a book I studied from a while ago, How to See Color and Paint It, by Arthur Stern. Actually, the light in both of them is really lovely.
