The Eye Of Smaug

I actually did this drawing a while back using the Eye from Smaug as a picture reference. The still photo was taken from a video put together by Ed Sheeran.

I did this on a 8x11 70lb Medium paper, pencils ranging from 2H-8B, and a Gum eraser and Pencil eraser for more detailed highlights.

Nice work on this good form and shading!
I like that how to video also.
Wasn't Smaug from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug so fantastic!
Benidieck Cumberbach was wonderful as the voice!
Although I think it would have been better to do those as two movies not three, after all it is a very small book.

That's correct the still comes from this video

I will always be a hug LOTR fan..... I am really tempted to do one of the Trolls from the first hobbit movie "An Unexpected Journey" or one of the dwarfs.. but that will really test my skills.

Re: The Eye Of Smaug

Dragons are great personifications of our fears, and, if the Chinese are right, our hopes, too. Well done.
