I normally don’t have any problem with assigning a title to my paintings, but in this case there were so many inside of my head that I decided not to assign any at all.

        It’s a rather large painting on canvas (80 x 140 cm or 32 x 56 inch).

The reason for making it that big was because I wanted to establish the expression and character of the woman’s face (which in reality is only 3/4 of an inch high on this painting).

For the rest, this painting is a mixture of realism with seemingly random painted abstract patterns/colors (the ones pure realists hate).

I”ll leave you with some pictures and close ups.

In reality, the exact heighth of these 2 pictures above is about 1 and a half inch. In detail, I was limited by the weave of the canvas. Anyway, even with your (good) eyes, it’s hard to see the detail. But I needed it.

And the last one, (half a square inch):
In fact, it is a bit ridiculous that I am showing this pictures in detail, because you can’t see it anyway, but now that I have them, you may as well hate or enjoy them.

How on earth did you paint all those bricks?!

Hi Mark: wow, quite a departure. It is indeed a lovely painting with an almost surreal subject. I love the way it tells a story. The touch is like watercolor. BRAVO.Beautiful.

Awesome Mark, you could post a million paintings with a billion close-up shots and I’d study (and be inspired by) them all.
                            Bravo, indeed!

I love this painting. Simple composition surrealistic mood, and the story.
                                Amazing gallery you have.

Wonderful atmosphere and much to look at and wonder – who is this woman, why is she out here in the rain… I love the contrast between realistic color and tighter detail of the building compared to the looser strokes and more painterly colors of the sky and grass.

Being born places you at a greater risk of dying later in life.

An offbeat painting, bleak, slightly sinister and fascinating.

                                                C&C always welcome.

I’m surprised this works so well with the house being so central in the composition, but it works a treat. It gives one a real sense of contented isolation. It reminds me of houses I’ve seen on the outskirts of Russian/Balkan towns.

There’s a wonderful mix of realism with enough abstract to give the painting a surreal atmosphere and it’s painted really well, I like the whole concept a lot.
