Chrysalis XP from Acrylics

“Chrysalis” 24”x36” acrylic on canvas
I've been doing some concept sketches the last little while, and this painting (the first time in a couple of years I've gotten the paints out) is the result.

I love your work in black and white. It's nice to see some color also, and wow does this have color!
Very Cool!

Thanks Dianna. My Lady asks me to do more colour work. It is fun, for sure. Maybe if I did it more often I would back away from the primary colours a bit. But for now ...

Thanks for commenting Michelle

I appreciate that Virginia. Colour does have a way of impacting a piece, eh?

Thanks Lawrence I channelled a bit of my inner high school kid I think in laying this one out. It's been a while since I tried morphing forms and colours like that

The contrasting colours make the image pop while still fitting together organically. What I really like is how realistic and detailed you made the figure and the whale. This makes the viewer more willing to suspend their disbelief, adding to the image's sense of wonder.

I'm glad you shared your critique Crabbit_Minger It really helps to hear another voice when it comes to my work

Thanks for that Anthony It was fun to compose, a challenge to paint, and a pleasure to complete. Couple that with the learning I do while doing, and I'm all good.
