Re: Landscape Challenge for October 2019

Hi, everyone, sorry I've been such a bad host! I was in Switzerland for 3 weeks and Portugal for 2 weeks, little or no computer time, and am now home and in the process of closing up the cottage for the winter.

Ester and Peter, I like the additions you made to Lake Lucerne. It was a cold and windy day and there was not much activity on the lake that day.

Peter, your manips are always a delight. The sunset street scene is stunning!
Patrikeev, I love the textures in your watercolor of the lake.

David, the grassy meadow is inviting, great atmospheric perspective, and the style you tried on for the lake works very well.

Two more lovely versions of the meadow from Lil and Brian; always fun to see the different interpretatons.

Sanlynn, those boat scenes are indeed a challenge to simplify, but you acquitted yourself very well in my opinion, and the barn scene is gorgeous.

Re: Landscape Challenge for October 2019

here's one from me: a bit of a cheat, since It's a plein air I did just before I went travelling.
Here's the setup. No fancy PA equipment, just a cheap field easel from the big-box store, a hinged tray re-made from a kids' chalk easel, a dollar-store umbrella held on with a bungee cord, etc. It;s oil pastels on 8x10 canvas board.

I also did a tiny PA of the Le Chable scene, looking out the window of the little hotel, but left it at home.

Re: Landscape Challenge for October 2019

Thanks for the comments Individou and Wendy.

David - interesting brush strokes and colour mix there. I'm glad you decided to submit it.

Wendy - nice work on the barn and bales. I've just finished my version, which I'll post below. I would have liked to add a bit more of the field, as can be seen in your plein air photograph. But too late now.

Here's my version - all digital manipulation using Photoshop and DAP (for the loose coloration!). Good fun.

I didn't like it against a white background, so I applied a rather heavy black frame.

C&C welcome.

regards - Peter

Re: Landscape Challenge for October 2019

Love seeing the PA version of the barn scene. With luck I will be able to scan nd post my watercolor version later today. I had a bit of fun pushing the color to be like the reference photo.

Sundiver, love the barn. Great color and light. Really nice color balance.

Dewarp, nice impressistic version of the barn. Nice color choices, very adventurous.

DaveCrow, another nice version if the barn. Good use of WC medium. Nice simplified view.
