List of new Prismacolors?

Does anyone have a list of the new Prismacolor colors? They've added twelve pencils to their line, and replaced some colours with others, I think. (i.e. they dropped Deco Pink, what did they add?)

Thanks, Phyrie

Re: List of new Prismacolors?

I found this from 2006. Not exactly new, but it's the most recent I could find.

Re: List of new Prismacolors?

The last time they added new colors that I know of was in 2006 -- that tin had a glorious clown fish painting on the cover. Before that was the tin of 12 new colors from 2005 that had a glass jar with the colors of Prismacolors in the set in it, both in beautiful realism.

They also made a big hoopla about it and the new colors tin was in all the art magazines and every art supply catalog I get, half of them on the front page. So if they are doing new colors again, they'd be showing up at Blick, ASW and Jerry's in the catalog. I haven't seen anything newer than 2006 so that is probably the right list of new colors.

Deco colors and Neon colors were discontinued for reasons of lightfastness, which annoyed me as I liked them for burnishing colors to give just a hint of color to the light without overwhelming the color they went over.

Re: List of new Prismacolors?

Ah, thanks, ocmd123, that's what I wanted.
I'm so new, I didn't realize that the changes had been made in 2006! Since I am, er, frugal, (read: poor!) I bought a lot of my pencils on eBay, and the 120 set was the largest I could buy when I started. Since I'm in Canada, I guess it takes a little longer for the changes to catch up. One of the mail order art stores I deal with here still carries 120 piece sets, but has warned for a year and half that it's been discontinued! They still sell 'em though...

Thanks again,

Re: List of new Prismacolors?

120 sets from Prisma are widely available. They no longer include the deco & neon colors, and some of the "new" colors have been added in. For *all* the colors, you want the 132 set.

Some dealers have opted to carry the 132 sets instead of the 120, so maybe that's what they're talking about.

The *Lightfast* pencils are going to be phased into the regular (premier) prisma line (and the not-so-lightfast versions phased out) so perhaps they could be considered "new"? Dunno.

Either way, here's prisma's website & the listing of the pencils included in a 120 set. Prismacolor 120 Set

For the benefit of UK Members, this site .. http://www.1buy1pencils.co.uk/index.htm .. has the full stock of Prismacolors (complete with colour reference pictures) & to the best of my knowledge, is the only UK importer of these pencils ..

My only connections with this site are that its owner (Sonia) and I are both Members of UKCPS & I'm a very satisfied customer ..

Bye for now,

Kev ..

I have friends who swear they dream in colour .. I think its just a pigment of their imagination
