feedback please :)

I started a new style recently that is completely different from my past works and looking for a critique.

Thanks!

I would call this an expressionistic, contemporary style. It is about as far as I go in an abstract sense. V Good.

With those strong black outlines and vibrant colours, it reminds me very much of a stained glass window.

Whatever you call the style, I like it.

One of the first things that someone told me about a drawing I posted was things in life don't have black lines around them and that I shouldn't have put a dark line around the flower in my drawing.
You have torn that rule up and thrown it out and made it work. Very nice work. I really like it.
Sometimes throwing out the rules works really well.
Keep up the good work.

Hi, I'm a "newie" [Wonder when I should stop introducing myself that way}.

I agree wholeheartedly, some rules a definately meant to be broken. Otherwise how do we discover new processes-if not for experimenting??

I really like the painting in fact as soon as I saw it "tarot" popped into my head. It would be great for you to do a whole series in that style. In fact, why not a whole deck of tarot cards?

Anyway just a humble suggestion.

Well done!!

Regards Dahzl.

--WOW! I am not an expert-to say the least-but to my amateur eye your work is vibrantly expressive. I really like it~Does it have a name?

thanks for all the positie feedback! (they like me, they really like me! lol)
The title of this piece is "Is she listening".

It's funny that you mentioned tarot cards Dahzl, just last week I had decided to start a set of fortune telling cards
Maybe you're psychic

hi,

i like the quasi-graphic match of the two faces, reminds me of the happy sad pair of masks that are indexical of the theatre, also since ur talking about tarot cards, in semirelated topic makes me think of the Solar king and Lunar Queen or Alchemy (regardless of 2 female figures) the point is the polar oppostion/dichotomy of expressions. U should look into Vasily Kafanov's work(he has a website) for the Smashing Pumpkins album Machina the Machines of God, he does various fantastic alchemical plates in a similar yet different style, u might enjoy them since u are interested in the tarot cards. Ur new style makes me thinkg of stainedglass windows also, but stained glass pop art too. I think the Blue Girl on the left is masterfully done, everything else rocks, the candles and right hand figure (with well defined ample bosom for such economic strokes ) Quite nice i must say.... what is the story behind the image, why is she sad etc? i could guess but would like to hear ur intentions?

There you go blue_girl,

It's meant to be!! your painting came from your subconcious
desire to make those cards. As for me being psychic - maybe a little sometimes. But as it happened I have wanted to get a new deck of cards for a while; and I just happened on a thread in the creativety corner on the very subject I was thinking about; and then up appears your piece. So there you go - maybe we are all a little psychic at times. Or we get answers from all avenues when we least expect them.

Anyway you have made a start of something which I feel is really worth developing.

Good luck: and I'll keep my eye out for more from you {hopefully}

Regards Dahzl.
