This one is 99% finished. While traveling a remote trail in the mountains near the tundra I discovered these fallen aspens and felt the fallen trees were symbolic of something I wanted to express. 35 years later it is now a painting. Working Title: “It’s Getting Closer”, Oil on Wood Panel, 24×30 inches (61×76 cm), from the Decline of an Empire Series.

Your paintings are something to be awed! This one is no exception. Composition, the atmosphere, the symbolism and of course technical mastery are all beautiful.

May I ask how long, approximately, you need to work on a painting? I am a newbie and not sure if I am putting enough time to each painting, and if I need to be more patient.

Does the “Empire” of this series imply any particular empire? I am a history fan also.

                        Thanks for posting:wave:
