Re: *** Daily Wash Wednesday 16th May 2012 ***
Hi Been busy, still searching for more furniture to fill some empty bits. I keep finding really nice pieces online, but Jack does not always agree oh well, that's life.
He has officially retired, He was given a really nice golf club as a gift from HP, SIL a bit jealous but Jack will let him play with it We had the kids yesterday, Lauren had a half day so I took her to have a bad manicure repaired, free, won't go back there. Then we went to Trader Joes ( ) I really missed that when we were in Yorkshire. Lauren choose what we would have for dinner (tea) since the kids (Spencer 12 Lauren 16+) would be with us to eat, Mom and Dad had a soccar/footie board meeting. So we had TJ's Orange Chicken and rice with stir fried veg. Very nice! and easy also nice. This is their last week of school so I suspect we will have them over lots this summer.
Lauren cataloged all my sons comic books we found we had been storing for 11 years some in plastic, but she had a ball entering them into a data base, her uncles are impressed, me too!
Temp here is warming up to be 85ish today.
mustache, back later

Re: *** Daily Wash Wednesday 16th May 2012 ***
Just taking a break after lunch. We did some shopping this morning so ate late lunch.
Doug, your alpines must be a lot of fun to grow and not as much maintenance. We try for lower maintence perrenials, but I am thinking of replacing some with more interesting shrubbery. What are your favorite alpines?
Will finish my map of the gardens this pm.
Also plan to make strawberry-rhubarb crisp for supper.

Re: *** Daily Wash Wednesday 16th May 2012 ***
Hi all! have been busy and by the time the end of the day comes am too to tired to write lot. i try to read the wash every day so at least I know what is going on with everyone.
I booked our air fare 2 wks ago and am so glad because a friend of ours is taking a cruise in Italy in June and he paid $200.00 more per person for he and his wife than we paid. I had heard the rates were going up which is why I booked our then and it's a good thing. Our other friends changed their mind and are still going with us on our trip. I am so happy. I booked the hotel in Florence for the 5 days there and then we will drive down to the villa inTreia that SAt. We fly back on Sept 23 and will have a 6 hr layover in Paris so we will take the subway into the city and have lunch there. Only 4 months and we will be on our way. We decided to take a day tirp from Florence to Venice when we first get there. I have been studying my Italian every day for at least 2 hrs. I hope to speak well enough to get around well enough. I took Italian for 2 yrs in High school and 2 yrs in college but lack of use for 40 yrs caused me to forget alot. I found a great text book and also bought a copy of my old textbook on Amazon so I can really catch up. I am really enjoying it!! It is such a pretty language!
This Sat I am running a get together for the hub ( local group of the watercolor society). It is going to be at the Inn at Langrove a very nice inn where we have alot of our VWS workshops. It should be a nice get together.
We are hoping to get some local activities going like paint outs, painting groups etc.
Doug- sounds like you are sure busy as usual! Good for you!
Gail- hope you are doing well! It sounds like Pearl is a typical adolescent Lab. they can get out of any place if they want to!!!
Anita- sorry about*the job, it wasn't meant to be, something better will come along. good luck with your room in the gallery!
DArla- for you and your family. Glad you are keeping your spirits up! Bless you!
Syvia- your dinner plans sound delicious!
Geoff- sorry you aren"t sleeping well. Hope tonight is better.
Lynn- your balcony is lovely!!!
Caryl - We have the same Breville oven. I love it! It's the best toaster oven we have ever had. i use it all the time in the summer as I don't want a hot kitchen. We also use our gas grill a lot too!
Well gotta run so I'll say what Darla said.
Have a great day all!
Reggie

Hi Shirley, I'll send you a list, alpines can generally stand cold, and prefer to be covered with snow in the winter, like a sunny spot but don't like to be wet.

Reggie enjoy your trip, we did Italy with friends and then later with family, Loved both trips, Venice is worth the trip alone. Our last trip we went in August, a bit on the warm side, you may want to take one of those little fans that fit in a pocket!

Re: *** Daily Wash Wednesday 16th May 2012 ***
Good Afternoon Everyone!!!
You know what they say about best layed plans. I played table tennis in the morning, returned something to Home Depot, came home and had lunch and since I was preparing for lots of work in the garden in the afternoon I had a 20 minute nap, went outside and was shocked.
Temperature is supposed to be 13C, I don't mind that and the sun is shinging, lovely, but we had rain in the morning and that brought with it the nastiest, ICE COLD 30km NORTH wind. I am not into suffering so I am staying inside.
North wind is to prevail tomorrow but not as strongly, I hope.
Darla, to you and your family. I am so sorry about the news about your dad.
Lynn, your balcomy looks VERY cozy. If the floor has spaces between the wooden slats wouldn't the rain go through the above balcony's spaces and onto your "easy chair"???
Lots of interesting information in today's wash but too many to respond to individually so am to ALL and wish you a good day, evening, night!!

I also forgot plums that we are still eating from frozen too lol
Doug, I did try to find the ref to the lodge in the first link, gave up and went on to the second one
Back from a lovely day out with my friend, we ended up going to see Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, the critics don't rate it much, but we loved it, a nice 'feel good' movie.
Reggie, you will LOVE Italy Would love to go back to Venice one day.
Better go get ready for the next outing - dinner
